Now that you have found your best home ice cream maker you need to start testing recipes and find your family favorite. Great family memories will be made as you start a traditional Treat Night at your house.
Set aside some time every Sunday night or whatever night works best for you and get the whole family together to mix up some cold desserts. This is can be a great bonding experience. Here is the ice cream recipe for my favorite ice cream Oreo mint. Remember it is best to let this Oreo mint treat chill for several hours so start early! Enjoy!
- 2/3 C. coarsely chopped Oreo's
- 3/4 C. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 C. heavy cream
- 1 C. milk
- 2 t. peppermint extract
Whisk the eggs in a mixing bowl for 2 minutes, until light and fluffy. Whisk in the sugar and beat until dissolved. Heat the cream and milk until it just begins to steam. Do not boil. Slowly add 1 C. of the cream to the egg mixture. Add the eggs to the pan with the rest of the cream. Blend well and cook for 1 minute. Add the peppermint extract.
Chill for 4 hours.
Pour mixture into the freezer. Follow the manufacturer's instructions. Just before it is done, add the crushed cookies.
Makes a generous quart.
When it comes to home made dessert it doesn't matter what type of ice cream maker you use. Also don't feel like you have to follow the rules. When it comes to trying recipes there are no right or wrong way. Experiment and try some new things you may invent the next big Flavor!
