We all love ice cream, and most people could argue for hours over which flavour they think is best. From good old vanilla to cookie dough, everyone has their favourite flavour. But what if you feel like trying something different?
We're going to introduce some of the weird and wonderful ice cream flavours from around the world in this article; you never know, you might even find a new favourite flavour. Be warned though, these are only for the adventurous!
Bacon and Egg
If you ever find yourself in the three Michelin star restaurant of world-famous chef Heston Blumenthal, you'll no doubt be chomping at the bit to taste their famous bacon and egg ice cream. For those who like a bit of crunch too, the chef of the Fat Duck restaurant serves this treat with a slice of fried bread too!
Squid Ink
Japan is the home of strange flavours, but there is perhaps none stranger than their squid ink ice cream. As if the flavour isn't striking enough, the jet black colour of the stuff on top of your cone is bound to draw your attention!
Garlic
The town of Gilroy in California is world-famous for its garlic, and one of the many garlic-based treats enjoyed there is garlic flavoured ice cream. If you fancy a couple of spoons of this creamy treat, you'll need to get yourself down to the Gilroy Garlic Festival where it's available for sampling.
Spaghetti and Cheese
Hop on a plane and wing your way over to Mérida, Venezuela and the temperature there will soon have you hunting for a way to cool down. In that case, you'll probably want to head over to Merida's local ice cream shop which proudly sells over 900 strange flavours, including cheese flavoured ice cream topped with spaghetti!
Viagra
You'll get more than you bargained for with this flavour! It first went on sale in Japan, but eventually found a home in none-other than the Selfridge department store in London. Whilst, thankfully, this flavour doesn't contain any real drugs, it's full of all natural ingredients designed to help an ailing libido.
Foie Gras
If you're in France (and have a bit of cash to spare), you might fancy a taste of this delicacy. Flavoured with liver of duck or goose, this ice cream will set you back over $150 a serving. For that price, you don't even get a cone!
Raw Horse Flesh
To round of this delicious menu, we're back in Japan again. Also known as Basashi Ice, this "delicious" blend of vanilla and raw horse-flesh is a firm favorite over there; although it is definitely something of an acquired taste!
